Today in class we took an the essay for the midterm. The question I chose was option A the question was  Choose three nations from three different parts of the world. Discuss the challenges they face regarding population and migration, using information we learned during our studies (perhaps including CIA World Factbook data, population pyramids, Net Migration Rates, possible overpopulation or underpopulation). Also, analyze what each nation's leaders need to do to deal with these challenges. The essay is worth 25% of the midterm grade.

midterm essay 2

Nations throughout the world struggle manage their population. It is important to not have too many people or too few people. Japan and India are two countries that have an overpopulation problem, and Greenland is a county that has an underpopulation problem.      The reason Japan and India’s population is so high is because they have 0 Net Migration rate, and the reason Greenland has such a low population is because they have -6 Net Migration Rate. This means that more people are leaving Greenland than coming in and Japan and India no one is leaving or entering. Japans total population is 126,168,156 it is the 10 th biggest country in the world. 37.28% of the people in the country are 25-56 years old which means that most of the county is not in child baring age so not many people will not be having children. Even through the population is so high this does not mean it is rapidly going up Japan only has a 1.42 TFR the TFR need for a population to stay the same is 2.1 so Japans po

Demographic transition (how it went)

Image
Today in class we took a quiz on the demographic transition. It had labeling the demographic chart, some multiple choice questions and the stages stage one through five stage one is low growth, stage two is high growth, stage three is moderate growth, and stage four is low growth. Most of human history was spent in stage one but today no country is in stage one most are in stage two. A country moves from stage two to stage three when the CBR begins to drop rapidly, a society enters stage three when people have fewer children. A country reaches stage four when the CBR declines to a point where it reaches CDR and the NIR approaches zero.
